Privacy Policy

This policy covers the standard Moustellix macOS app and moustellix.ecoolst.com, maintained by developer Kejia Zhou. The current app primarily processes files locally and has no developer-operated account or file-upload service.

Data processed locally

At your direction, the app processes file contents, names, folder paths and image or document metadata on your Mac for creation, copying, moving, renaming, image operations, hashing, compression and encryption. It does not automatically upload these files or operation contents to our servers.

Menu settings, keyboard shortcuts, favorite folders and apps, scripts, folder authorization bookmarks and imported template contents are stored on your device to provide the selected features. Settings are not an automatically encrypted vault; exported or cloud-backed settings include those contents.

The current version embeds no advertising or analytics SDK, creates no advertising-tracking identifier and does not sell user data or use it for advertising profiles. Archive passwords are used for encryption or decryption and are not persistently saved by the app.

Access and system permissions

The standard edition uses App Sandbox. File access relies on files or folders you select and authorize, saved file bookmarks and capabilities allowed by macOS. Manage authorized folders under File Access, and remove favorites or templates you no longer need.

Finder integration and the quick menu read the current file selection and folder to identify the action target. Controlling Finder, Terminal or AppleScript may require macOS Automation permission, which you can revoke in System Settings. The standard native Finder-extension menu does not require Accessibility permission.

The app may write feature status or diagnostic information to local macOS system logs. The current version has no self-operated service for uploading those logs.

Sync, sharing and third parties

Settings sync is optional. The app writes settings to a sync folder only after you choose one in iCloud Drive or another provider. Settings may include paths, file bookmarks, favorites, script text and imported template contents. Your chosen provider controls actual synchronization, storage and its own data processing under its privacy policy.

When you explicitly use system sharing, AirDrop, WeChat, a terminal or another external app, selected files or paths may be passed to that app, service or receiving device. You initiate that transfer; check the target and recipient as appropriate.

Apple handles distribution, diagnostics and related information for App Store and TestFlight services. TestFlight provides developers with crash and usage information, submitted feedback and screenshots, and tester-related identity information. We use received beta information only to test, investigate and improve the app. See TestFlight & Privacy for Apple's processing and retention practices.

Website visits

This website uses no advertising or analytics SDK, tracking pixels or cookies, and loads no third-party fonts. It provides no account, file upload or online message form. Language switching uses page URLs and does not write to browser local storage.

The server and network infrastructure receive necessary network information such as your IP address when a connection is made. This site's routine access log records time, method, URL path without query parameters, response status and browser User-Agent, but does not include IP addresses in that access log. Error or security logs may contain IP addresses and request context. Logs are used only for operation, troubleshooting and abuse prevention, with daily rotation and a maximum 14-day retention policy.

Contacting support

If you send an email, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to provide. We use them to answer your request, investigate the issue and handle related follow-up, not for advertising. Email transmission and storage are also governed by your and our email providers' policies.

Support information is retained as needed to handle requests and investigate issues. Contact us to request access, correction or deletion of information you submitted. We will check the information necessary to process the request. Avoid sending passwords, private keys or unrelated personal information.

Your controls and retention

You can disable quick access or Finder menus, remove authorized folders, delete favorites, templates and scripts, and manage system permissions in macOS. Local settings remain until you change or delete them. Uninstalling the app may not remove all local settings.

You can stop sync and delete exported files or cloud copies. Revoking access or stopping sync does not automatically delete files, archives, emails or third-party copies already created. Contact support for instructions to completely remove local settings.

Moustellix is a general file utility. It has no children's accounts or child-directed personal-information collection feature, and we do not actively request age information.

Updates and contact

If the app's data practices change, we will update this policy and its date. New data uses or permissions should be accompanied by appropriate explanation and any necessary authorization.
